One thing no one tells you about having a fully functioning toddler is that they have to go everywhere with you, especially the bathroom and if you’re lucky enough, they mimic your every move, even in the bathroom. They will open the cabinet with their little hand, grab a tampon out of the box, and put it between their knobby knees, just like you do for one week out of the month.

They will say “ViVi wash yer hands“ when you are done and you will pick them up on your knee and they will splash the water around for .5 second as it comes running out of the faucet and you will have to clean up the mess.

They will proudly wipe their hands on their jam-jams and stomp their tiny feet towards the door yelling “play!” as if they’ve been sitting in New York City traffic for an hour, tortured and annoyed that it’s taking so long.

You will open the door for them and chase their cute, stubby, somewhat uncoordinated body into the playroom, sit down on the floor, and play whatever keeps their mind busy for .5 seconds.

There is no such thing as privacy anymore when you’ve birthed a child. Instead, there’s a little companion that sometimes drives you up a wall and other times makes your heart burst with so much love you feel like it may actually crack into pieces.
